Ethics and conduct

The action of the Special services is governed by a set of ethical principles, consistent with the legal framework presented on the Legal framework page.

Legality

All of the institution’s activity is carried out within the framework of the laws of the Republic and the texts that specify their application.

Proportionality

The means employed are proportionate to the purpose pursued. The institution takes care to limit its action to what is strictly necessary for the exercise of its mandate.

Oversight

The action of the Special services is carried out under the oversight of the competent constitutional authorities. The oversight mechanisms and the avenues of recourse open to citizens are set out in detail on the Oversight and recourse page.

Data protection

The processing of any personal information is governed by the principles of Law L/2016/037/AN on cybersecurity and the protection of personal data. Details of this policy are set out on the Data protection page.

Avenues of recourse

Anyone who considers themselves affected by the institution’s action has avenues of recourse available to them. They are presented on the Your rights page.

Note

These principles form part of the doctrinal break described on the History and memory page.
